All of SEPTA's Silverliner V Regional Rail cars have been removed from service as result of a defect discovered in the cars on July 1st. Due to the reduction in the Regional Rail fleet, SEPTA is operating an enhanced Saturday schedule for Regional Rail lines during the weekday (Monday - Friday) until further notice. Please note, the Cynwyd line will operate shuttle buses in place of rail service.
These 120 Silverliner V cars represent more than 1/3 of the Regional Rail fleet and passengers waiting at stations closer to Center City Philadelphia may see trains express past their station due to overcrowding.
SEPTA has asked customers to seek alternate travel options to commute to Center City; options include: the Broad Street Line, Market Frankford Line, the Norristown High Speed Line, Route 101/102 Trolleys, and SEPTA's extensive bus network.
Riders are encouraged to check timetables for complete schedule details and to expect crowded conditions. Complete details of the contingency plan are available via SEPTA's website:
http://www.septa.org/service/contingency.html.
In addition, riders may receive up-to-the-minute information by following their Regional Rail line via SEPTA's customized service feeds: http://www.septa.org/alert/twitter.html.
SEPTA is developing a fare credit plan for Railroad customers who have already purchased a Weekly TrailPass for the week of July 4th or a July Monthly TrailPass that will be good for a future pass purchase. Please hold on to these Passes and look for future details on the credit.
DVRPC offers several programs for commuters who work in southeastern Pennsylvania, and for their employers. Commuters can go to PA Carpool for information on commuting around the Philadelphia region, as well as programs in other parts of Pennsylvania and our surrounding states.
